eAfrica is one of the most spectacular places in the world, not only from a wildlife and landscape perspective, but also culinarily and culturally. While I have been on two safaris, one in Kenya and one in Tanzania, it has been far too long for my liking. So, what to do? Create an amazing luxury expedition experience that combines all of it. And, let’s face it, Africa is just too big to do it quickly or superficially! Note: The wildlife and landscape photos in this article are from my prior safaris.
(Yes, I know there are many areas to Africa, from Morocco to Madagascar, but this Culinary, Cultural, Wildlife and Landscape Journey involves the Africa that first comes to mind for most. Trust me, Goldring Travel will get to those other parts…though we already did a pretty amazing culinary and cultural experience in Tangier in 2017.)
Some of us will meet in Johannesburg, South Africa on March 27, 2025, spend the night at the Intercontinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport (no going out in Johannesburg as the crime rate is too high and is not the focus of this expedition) and, starting our Abercombie & Kent Tailor Made Safari fly to Botswana the next morning, arriving at Kasane Airport and then transfer to the Chobe Chilwero Lodge on the Chobe riverfront for our first two nights. (You might ask: With strict weight limitations on safaris and the use of small aircraft between camps, what are guests going to do with their luggage for a 19-day expedition cruise? Goldring Travel is having it transported to the last stop on our Safari: The One & Only Cape Town!)

After arriving at our first camp and settling in, it will be off on our first game drive or boat ride. With the rest of the day and the following being a combination of safari and luxury relaxation or other activities, it will be an early morning game drive before transferring to a light aircraft for a short charter flight to our second safari area: Chief’s Camp in the Moremi Game Reserve.

Our safari there will seek out big game and small birds, plus incredible landscapes over the next almost four days (3 nights) in the Okavango Delta (a dream location for me!).
We then fly to Cape Town for a one night stay at the One & Only Cape Town for an informal wine tasting and then full-day tour the next day before heading to the Silversea Silver Wind for our 19-Day expedition.

Our Silversea expedition is truly unique, as we will be visiting South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, Togo, and Ghana.

The diversity of expeditions and tours is, frankly, beyond exciting and diverse. I will be – and these are just a few of experiences! -:
- Visiting Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in Congo,
- Dinner in the Dunes near Walvis Bay, Namibia,
- World-class birdwatching,
- Visits to local markets,
- Hiking in South Africa, Namibia, Ghana,
- Lounging on the beach, and, of course,
- A full day Voodoo experience.
Did I mention a Private Goldring Travel Angolan Wine Tasting Experience about the Silver Wind? (And, of course, you never know what I will come up with along the way. I mean, I have 19 days to be creative!)
Fortunately, while there is so much to do, see, and experience over these 26 days, there also will be six sea days to relax and, ugh, do work.
This Goldring Travel Culinary & Cultural Expedition has been sold out for quite a while…and with good reason. So, follow along, be inspired, and enjoy the ride with me!
