Goldring Travel’s 2025 Culinary & Cultural Journey – Cape Town to Ghana on Silversea!

Travel with Goldring Travel sailing with Silversea for 19 days up the West Coast of Africa from Cape Town, South Africa, and calling on exotic ports you probably would otherwise never visit – but will fascinate you – including Namibia, Angola, the Congo, Sao Tome & Principe, Togo, and Ghana.

And don’t worry about airlift home from Ghana, as it is easy with one-stop service back to the United States on Emirates, Turkish Air, United, KLM, Delta, and more.

To ensure everyone is “Comfortable Being Uncomfortable,” I have chosen Silversea Cruises’ expedition ship, Silver Wind.  This Silversea favorite combines luxury service and cuisine, with an expert expedition team, and a more classic cruise ship with anything but a classic itinerary!  Add to that enough sea days to truly enjoy all that Silversea has to offer, and you have an exceptional and once-in-a-lifetime experience for all of your senses. 

Silver Wind has undergone two recent upgrades: In 2018, she had a major upgrade, and in late 2021 completed her transformation into a luxury expedition ship with an ice-hardened hull, lots of technology upgrades, along with upgrades to all suites, while reducing her capacity to only 274 guests plus an expedition team of twenty-eight. You can enjoy her four dining venues, show lounge, heated pool, spa, fitness center, Connoisseur Cigar Lounge, Photo Center, and more. 

With Silversea’s Door-to-Door option, prices start at $13,400 per person/double occupancy or $21,100 for single occupancy you will receive:

You also have the choice of Silversea’s Port-to-Port discounted pricing – which eliminates the transfers and air – but not that it comes with an immediate cancelation penalty starting at 15% of the expedition fare.  Prices start at $10,450 per person/double occupancy or $15,675 for single occupancy.

ONE CATEGORY UPGRADE OPPORTUNITY! If you book and deposit a suite on or before November 30, 2023, you will receive a one-category upgrade. That is a savings of up to $5,000!  (Note: If the lower category sells out, the complimentary upgrade will no longer be available…and there are only a limited number of Vista (oceanview suites) that you can upgrade to a Classic Veranda Suite. So Don’t Delay!) 

To help you understand the incredible diversity this itinerary offers – not to mention the Goldring Travel Special Events – here are some examples:

•  Langebann, South Africa – Choose between kayaking the Great Berg River, hiking the West Coast National Park, or engaging in a Khwa Ttu San Cultural Experience.
• Walvis Bay, Namibia – Travel across the famous sand dunes to spot wildlife and spectacular scenery before enjoying a “Marquee Dinner in the Dunes,” and the next day enjoy some world-class birdwatching and spotting of the Big Cats!
• Luanda, Angola – Known as “The World’s Most Expensive City,” you can enjoy everything from restaurants to crowded local markets.
• Lome, Togo – This small, rustic, city is home to over forty tribes, affording the opportunity for cultural overload…and the possibility of experiencing a Voodoo ceremony. 

I am working on putting together a pre-expedition safari in Botswana or South Africa for those who are interested and have the time.  Goldring Travel can also assist with creating your own private safari if you prefer.

Yes, I know you want to know what the special Goldring Travel events are going to be. To be honest, so do I! It will take a good bit of planning, and you won’t be disappointed, but I do not have them arranged yet, and they probably won’t be finalized until sometime in early 2025 because they will depend on still-to-be-determined logistics, which can be challenging in West Africa.  But rest assured, Goldring Travel’s Culinary & Cultural Special Events are always, well, special!
