I guess I asked for this. I pointed a number of my readers to Ralph Grizzle’s Avid Cruiser website as I posted his short video on Seabourn Odyssey’s cuisine. So today I read Ralph’s post about which is the best luxury cruise line. He mentions Seabourn, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, Crystal and SeaDream Yacht Club.
While I am writing how there seems to be little cross-over from Silversea to Seabourn, it appears that Seabourn may well be trying to change that! Possibly smelling Silversea blood in the water, Seabourn has essentially put all of 2010 on sale adding additional discounts to virtually all of its 2010 sailings. Clients are calling
At first blush this may seem like worse than a naive question, but one that is just silly. I mean, how could the two largest true luxury cruise lines not be direct competitors? Yesterday I learned some very interesting statistics. Silversea claims that it actually has more former Princess passengers on it ships than Seabourn
You know I hate these “awards”, but I feel compelled to provide the information because some people find them of great interest. The Yachts of Seabourn has won the 2009 Travel & Leisure Magazine Award as the No. 1 Small Ship Cruise Line. What is interesting is that the category was dominated by river cruises
I have heard from reliable sources that today Silversea terminated its: – West Coast Regional Manager– One of its Los Angeles Sales Managers, and its – Colorado Sales Manager. If you consider that the West Coast of the United States has historically been on of Silversea’s stronger sales areas, and considering the wealth in Colorado,
As you know I have been concerned for the past year as to whether Silversea would financially be strong enough to accept delivery of the new Silver Spirit in December. Well…a little birdie has told me that it probably cannot. So what does this mean? One thing it doesn’t mean is that the ship will
On the heels of Seabourn announcing its busiest days (based upon phone calls and/or bookings) on record, Regent Seven Seas made a similar announcement which is now followed by Crystal Cruises and Silversea…and Regent Seven Seas UK’s office. This is a good news/bad news scenario. (Remember calls and bookings do not equal gross sales increases.)
David Morris and Marilyn Conroy, who were recently fired from Silversea Cruises as the heads of marketing and sales have started a new venture, David Morris International which is going to market to the…yep…cruise industry. Apparently Mr. Morris is going to be finding ways to have land and cruise vacations be more seamless; something he has
Seabourn announced it had its single busiest day of sales this past Monday with 830 calls in 11 hours. It also noted bookings have risen by 40% over the prior month and there remains a very high level of first time guests. Now, keeping it real, while there is no way to turn the information
Last week I posted that Silversea was going to institute a Children’s Program ala Regent Seven Seas Cruises: Silversea is Robbing The (Regent Seven Seas’) Cradle. The information was not posted or confirmed anywhere else that I am aware of. At the time I said “Silversea is making a big mistake”. And I was, apparently,
