Quark Expeditions has just taken delivery of the Ultramarine, the newest of the new expedition ships coming into the expedition market, in Split, Croatia.

Here is a short video of the Quark Expeditions’ Ultramarine’s seatrial.
I previously wrote about the Ultramarine, and Quark Expeditions, generally a short while ago: Quark Expeditions: This Polar Expedition Specialist Has Evolved. It is worth a read!
Ironically, I was contacted today about writing an article on some unusual luxury family vacations and was reviewing some of Quark’s offerings for 2021 and 2022…and found some compelling expeditions I want to share with you.

To be honest, due to the current closure of Norway and Canada to most travelers, this summer doesn’t bode well, but Autumn 2021 and onward looks great for booking and actually sailing.
One expedition that would be great for a shorter holiday experience is the Antarctic Explorer: Discovering the Seventh Continent departing on December 19 and returning December 29, 2021 roundtrip Ushuaia, Argentina on the World Explorer with suite pricing starting at $15,995 per person. After overnighting in Ushuaia you board the ship to spend four full days exploring Antarctica. It provides a great taste of Antarctica for those with a limited amount of time and a very cool way to spend Christmas. (I’m Jewish and trust me, for those who don’t normally have the opportunity to experience a White Christmas, it definitely affords you and your family that magic!)
NOTE: You can enjoy a similar expedition on the Ultramarine, but not over the holidays at it will be on a 20 day expedition of South Georgia Island and Antarctica; something it will do twice this upcoming season!

There are many itineraries in Svalbard, Greenland, Canada (including the most remote of areas), South Georgia Island, Antarctica and more. So if you are looking for the unique but doing so in comfort without breaking the expedition travel bank, check out Ultramarine.
