Goldring Travel’s 2019 Culinary & Cultural Cruise -Part VII (Goldring Travel Grand – Scottish & English – Culinary Event, Galley Market Brunch & More)
As the Goldring Travel Culinary & Cultural Cruise on the Seabourn Ovation begins to wind down, the special events continue! After a Private Galley Tour with Chef Bert and a Private Bridge Tour it was time for a twist on the last big culinary event.
Rather than having a formal sit down lunch where usually pair wines of the regions we have traveled with the cuisines we have enjoyed, Chef Bert and I opted for a more informal buffet of all that Scottish seafood and meats have to offer. (Let’s face it pairings with Norwegian and Scottish wines wasn’t going to happen!)

Rather than list all that Chef Bert created with his team, let’s take a bit of a photographic journey.

In addition to all of those delectables, while Shopping with Chef Bert we found Pheasant, Whisky & Haggis Pie as well as Rabbit, Bacon and Black Pudding Pie. Both were outstanding, but I definitely give the nod to the Pheasant Pie.
And we must not forget English and Scottish Desserts

Believe it or not, there were some additional items as well! Everyone truly enjoyed themselves.
So with
- Norwegian cuisine and culture explored in our Olso Culinary & Cultural Walking Tour and our Penthouse Spa Suite Cocktail Party
- English cuisine and culture explored at Alnwick Castle and the following gourmet British Pub Lunch
- Scottish cuisine and culture explored while Shopping with the Chef, our Glenfiddich gourmet Scottish Lunch and Whisky Tasting and finishing up with the Grand Culinary Event
I think it is safe to say that the Goldring Travel 2019 Culinary & Cultural Cruise has been a success…and it isn’t over!
Believe it or not, the next day – being a sea day – Seabourn held its Galley Market Brunch. That’s right: Brunch. Running from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM, it certainly gave everyone enough time to enjoy it at their leisure…and leave room for dinner as it was the second Formal Night.
After being greeted with your choice of a Bloody Mary or a White Sangria
it was off to the Galley for a feast! (I limited myself to softshell crabs, calamari and suckling pig.)
I was fortunate to be invited to dine with Captain Stig Betten for the second formal night. After the Grand Culinary Event and Galley Market Brunch I was determined to have a light dinner. It didn’t happen!

While on the topic of the cuisine of the Seabourn Ovation, I did take the time to further evaluate (indulge is probably more accurate) my two favorite alternative dining venues: Earth & Ocean and Sushi.
Chef Anton (Tony) Egger – with his boundless energy – caught up with me almost every day instructing me to stop by Earth & Ocean so that I could try something new or a different preparation. The funny thing is, whilehe always brought me something new or different…and far too much of it – which I always ate because it was so delicious…it was hardly ever what he said he originally wanted me to try! That has been a lot of fun!!!
I have also made a couple of additional visits to Sushi; once for Ramen and once for a Gyoza Bento Box with a vegetable roll side. Truly world class!
Finally, but without limitation (I mean there is the Seabourn Square, Patio Grill, and Room Service), I did have to indulge in Afternoon Tea one time…again for research purposes only!
As a final culinary item, of the many that I have been enjoying on this Seabourn Ovation cruise, is Congee in the Colonnade on a few mornings.
